Welcome to Canterbury Gardens Kindergarten

At Canterbury Gardens Kindergarten (previously Canterbury Norwood Kindergarten) we pride ourselves on the provision of a quality pre-school service within a nurturing, inclusive and stimulating environment.  We are a small, community based kindergarten run by a committee of past and current parents, our program is underpinned by a belief in growth through imaginative play and the joy of music and stories.

Learning through play

Play based learning is provides our children with an unrestricted learning experience that embraces both their creativity and problem solving skills whilst the work and play together and across many different activities.

Developing independence

When starting Kinder children will begin to learn the structure of the day. Arriving to kinder they will learn to put away their own bags and lunches and prepare for the day. They will become more responsible for packing up activities and their own personal hygiene.

Musical expression

Our Kinder has a unique integration of many different musical activities and our coordinator Karen loves nothing more than playing the piano and singing with the children. Music is also used for it’s calming properties when the children have their rest time.

New Location for 2023!

Our Kinder has officially moved and we have a very exciting new premises at the new Canterbury Community Precint for 2023. Both our 3 and 4 year old classes will operate from the new location from Term 1 2023 onwards. Find out more about the Boroondara Canterbury Community Precinct.

Canterbury Gardens Kindergarten acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land, and pays respect to Elders past, present and emerging.

Since our daughter began three year old kinder with Karen at Norwood, we have witnessed her flourish with confidence and curiosity. Karen is an expert teacher, with passion and empathy beyond measure. The children bounce out the gate each afternoon singing new songs and sharing their exciting experiences. We couldn’t have asked for a more nurturing environment than Norwood. Highly recommend.

Karen’s years of experience shine through in everything she does for both the children and the parents at kinder.
